My internet provider said my Google toolbar may be causing the problems in my computer and removed it when I called. Now I want to install it again, but it tells me that there's already a Google toolbar installed and won't install it again. I try to delete the files of Google toolbar in Program Files, but it says it can't delete them, access denied. What can I do?

You'll need to be logged in to an account with administrative privileges in order to delete files from the program files directory (folder for you young whipper snappers).

And in any case its probably looking in the registry to see if the program is already installed so deleting the files wont do any good unless you clean it out of the registry as well.

You sure he didn't just turn it off in the browser? If you right click on the blank space to the right of "help" it should list all the installed toolbars and show which ones are active with a check mark.

Thanks, Fraya. I see I do have the Google toolbar on the screen, but not the highlight feature that comes with it. It's also on the top right corner, and it was never there. Weird... And when I right click at the right of Help as you said, and click on Google, it doesn't get a tick.

You can move around the toolbars by clicking and dragging the little vertical line on the far left of it (make sure that "Lock Toolbars" is turned off in the toolbars menu).

But if its not working correctly it might be easiest to simply reinstall it by removing it in Add/Remove programs in the Control Panel and then trying to install it. For this though again you will need to be logged in to the computer under an account with administrative privileges.

You have to select "Lock Toolbars" to remove the check next to it before you can move them.

Its at the bottom of that list of toolbars you get when you right click in the blank space next to help.

You appear to not have administrative rights to the machine nor a login to grant you those rights. I believe before we can help you further we will need more information regarding why this is the case.
