when browsing some websites, there are always some annoying little animation off to the side or something.

How do I tell my browser to not play flash animations?

I use Firefox with an add on called prefbar:

http://prefbar.mozdev.org/

It sometimes stops working after a flash update but usually fixable eventually and you can configure it to give a flash checkbox enabling an easy disable enable as necessary.

Or the other methord is to locate the flash plug in dll and move it out of the plug-ins directory

I just Firefox with the "Flashblock" plug in. It replaces Flash applets with a simple button that I can select if I want to view the animation.
