Hello again, i would like to create my own games for the internet, but i know not of any good programs to build them with or the programming stuff. I know of C++, but i dont know what it does. So, if you guys could leave the names of game creating places or leave the symbolls from programming and what it does, ill make some games soon.

I think all the games you think are cool probably takes 20 people a couple of months to do at the game company with C++ and other game making software that only they have.

I know it's possible to make a game in a day because I used to do that but it was in DOS.

I hope someone else knows about the "make your own games" software they have these days. I had a "make your own FPS" CD and it was half easy but it was for Windows 95.

One master rule for programming - know what you want it to do and stick to the plan. Artwork, what should happen on certain events, etc.

Beta testing can't be successfully done by the programmer so get your friends to test it for you

Try Game Maker. It's one of the most awesome programs ever. You don't really need to know much about programming, as it is mostly GUI. If you know a little bit about "if" statements and object-oriented programming, you should be fine. Additionally, you can create your own script extensions. I've made awesome games -- in only a few hours -- without using any scripts at all!

If you want to make 3D games, that's another story....

I'd rather i didnt have to download the program, but ill take what i can get, thank you. I was think along the lines my own tower defence (or defense) games. I love tower defence games, they're great. And with the added touch of.... lets say...me, they'll be much better.

Learn how to program in Adobe/Macromedia's Shockwave Flash ActionScript, which is a pretty trivial scripting language, and that's all there is to it. Off you go.

(PS. I played with KToon, briefly.)

I think there's a free program out there called Gmax, which allows you to do the artwork. Milkshape is another...but I've never tried to make a game before (except in something called Generic Adventure Game Simulator...which was for text games...dating myself...;)

I've used gamemaker in my programming class. It was difficult for me to understand. I had to finish a game project for programming though, so I ended up downloading an example game from their website, and change the sprites/levels. I've been making a game in DarkBASIC, it's pretty simple. You just need to know most of BASIC though. You should be able to make some kind of game within a month if you stick to the tutorials.
