Best computer for CAD programming?

Now that I think about it, the OP mentioned a 6400 laptop. I've set a few of them up, and yes, one was for a biochemist who was making 3d models of drug compounds, so yeah, it will handle the load. (it was an interesting setup; an anaglyph with custom glasses)

I would prefer a desktop, if any one has a suggestion.
