Okay, I'm having a problem with youtube and firefox. Everytime I try to watch a video on youtube in FIREFOX, all I get is a white area where the video player should be, no java update messages or anything, but yet, it works fine on sluggish INTERNET EXPLORER. Can someone tell me what the f*** is going on here? I tried clearing my temporary internet files, but that seemed to do no good. I guess computers LOVE to tease me. WHY IS IT ALWAYS ME???! !! ! SOmeone help me please before I explode at those idiots who made these computers in the first place!

I'm having big problems with YouTube on Firefox at the moment - it's forever freezing and restarting itself. It's driving me nuts. I think I have a general problem with crappy Vista though, as other programs are failing (although YouTube on Firefox causes the biggest failures).

I have Vista and Firefox, but I can use YouTube just fine. I wish I knew what to give you. I'm a nub.

Can it be a codec problem?

I am using Firefox 3.0.4 on Vista x6 Ultimate and have ZERO problems.

I would recommend installing flash player from adobe. I also use flashblock 1.5.7 for firefox too. Can help loads when I load up 20-30 different videos, last thing I want is for them all to be streaming and hogging my bandwidth.

Sounds like a player problem to me...

I am using Firefox 3.0.4 on XP SP2 and it is frequently crashing, seemingly regardless of website.

Update: no problems since disconnecting the dodgy second hard disk. Must have been just a coincidence then.

Are you using tabs or new windows? Cos both use alot of memory. Was wondering how much RAM you have?

2GB DDR2 (the maximum that the motherboard could take). I would normally have 2-3 tabs open. Sometimes Firefox would crash with only 2 tabs open. Previous versions of Firefox did not crash nearly as often.

I can't see the relevance of the number of tabs/windows.

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-GB; rv:1.9.0.4) Gecko/2008111317 Ubuntu/8.04 (hardy) Firefox/3.0.4

VIRT RES SHR
144m 45m 19m Firefox start up - blank page
177m 49m 21m Single tab to WP Forum index
219m 91m 21m 22 more tabs, one to each forum

So... WP pages tend to be quite "busy", and this shows that they cost about 2 meg each. Nothing worth panicking about, until you have a hundred tabs, I'd guess.

Might be Video Card Driver. If not that you might need to run MemTester86 and see if it is a memory issue. If not that upgrade your Vista to Windows XP.

You might be missing java and the flash player for Firefox.
