update on my dell win 2000 pro SP4:

it works better now due to removing the renamed version of radialpoint internet security and installed AVG free. im happy to go back to an antivirus that i can control when or how often to update definitions and when it can scan and WHAT to scan.

about the clicking, stupid me, grrr stupid me should have looked at the system clock , every night at 9:00 PM the system would click like its doing updates or activity. well my dad while using it looked at system time to see it was set to 9:00 AM. (well least the clock is correct IF THE COMPUTER WAS IN THE PHILIPPINES!)

cannot believe i overlooked such as simple and stupid thing that can cause all the clicking at night of the harddrive.

lesson learned- when there is a problem, make sure system time and time zone is correct with were you live.

What type of internet security suite are you using ?

It is unusual that you get this type of high workload on your computer. Editing dll files won't help, it can damage the functions of the software.

To edit binary files (wich dll files are) you need a hex editor.

my internet security suite, it is from my ISP they call it verizon internet security suite(cutdown/renamed version of radialpoint internet security)and is more meant to be used on windows XP and vista, but because i had a 3 computer license with them i figured i would try it on windows 2000 pro, and found out (because they did not have the program system requirements listed)

yes im aware of the warnings about the files, thanks anyway
