Has anyone built any electronic projects?
I have been doing some stuff with antennas for TVs and doing modifications on radios to put standard terminals on.

I'm an electrical engineer and amateur radio operator (packet mode, mostly). What do you need to know?

I am technician in electronics. I worked in a service laboratory about 10 years, had customers who wondered of that wonderful things i could to do, but i'm too lazy for that.

I like a lot to understand, but i don't have motivation to do somthing with that i know.

I did something in shop, back in 8th grade. Actually, I tear apart and fix PC equipment every day, so I'm probably jaded.

Yes. During the last 100 trips around this solar system,
we have been building a lot of electronic projects here.
Is this the multidimensional space-time coordinate point destination you are looking for?
Or is this the wrong planet? :alien:
Circuits-R-Us! ... How can we help you? :D

yeah, i built a crystal radio as a kid.
i also built a heathkit radio
and i put together a PC back in the days when they were the new toy, from scrap parts. ooo, a 2400 baud modem! so fast, sooo fast!
afraid all my electronics skills these days involve replacing the outlets in the wall, only.

Not much these days, but I have. Did the crystal radio thing as a kid, then a kit FM radio, then various projects from some little books by Forrest M. Mimms III. Once made a crude "oscilliscope" which used a hand-soldered array of about 200 LED's. (I can't remember why I didn't just buy an LED array :) ).

These days I don't do much, although last year I made some reflectors to boost my router's WiFi range a bit.

Over the years I have done quite a bit of electronics, what do you want to know ?

I've always wanted to build a Tesla coil so I'd have something more interesting to watch than TV.

To build kits is so boring.

To make a coherer detector radio: that is amazing. (no, i not did it yet)

To pick up an old schematic and repeat a part of a circuit if you are not an engeneer: that it is funny. (yes I did)

One time, I built a letterbox with a light on it that tells you when you've got mail. I thought I was sitting on millions, but unfortunately email came out at the same time and I just couldn't compete

I have electronically restored several vacuum tube radios over the past year, including a console set from 1936 that I've had sitting around for many years. Regular old analog broadcast AM radio sounds FANTASTIC on them, too!

Have you got a decent design yet, I have never made a tesla coil but I am aware of the design at http://www.teslamap.com/guide.html

Just be careful with EHT, and try to keep the RFI under control. I suspect that a big Tesla coil might disrupt TV viewing for close neighbours if you get something wrong.

Take care with your clons too, remember "the illusionist". The Eduard Norton movie. :D
