Water Battery Question
Note: It's about a 6min long video on google.

Thought I would throw this out there. Any speculations on the physics behind it? :)

Since water is partially charged the charges break off when the water droplet is released. The two different sides are oppositely charged. The charges build up until a critical point is reached and then the sparks form.

I take it you've seen a Kelvin Electrostatic Generator before? :)

vaguely, but I have all lecture notes, videos, assignments, assessments, and labs from MIT Opencourseware. For all physics classes, math classes, and a few mismash classes. Engineering, etc.

I have never made one but I know something of how they work.

Consider for a moment that the random slight excess of positive charge occurs in one drop which goes into the top pot on the left side. The device will then start up, it uses the potential enegy of the water to create some electrical energy.

To start up you will need some random charge on a water drop.

To understand it it might help if you read up on Millikan's oil drop experiment and on how an electrospray mass spectrometer ion source works. Both these things need droplets to form with an electrical charge on each droplet.
