Is anyone else here interested in elevators?

I have been since I was old enough to realize what an elevator is. I'm able to identify elevators by make, year, etc in most cases and just find them fascinating for some reason.

There's a ton of videos of elevators on YouTube these days...a group of guys from all over the world take videos of elevators around their hometowns and explain about them. I've learned a ton of history, identification techniques, etc from these!! !

Also, just in case we have any other elevator enthusiasts on here...my favorite types of elevators are early 1960s Montgomerys and mid-80s Westinghouses. For 2008 model elevators I like Otis.

I've always liked the hydraulic ones. I like hearing the little whoosh sound as you start moving.

I'm interested in elevators in a way. I am not to obsessed with them, but I used to identify which ones were what. Otis are good ones. I am trying to remember those 70s styled ones that are still around and I can't remember the name. I hate those! The buttons suck and they go too damn slow!

Yeah, I like elevators. Look at all the little buttons there are for all the floors. I remember when I was at the Sheraton Centre in Toronto how huge that building was and how many floors there were.

I ride them every day. If you have a hand-truck full of kit, and you have to hump up a few flights of stairs, an elevator is worth it's weight in latinum...;)

however, when I die, I want back all the time i've spent in them...;)

One can model the control system for a cluster of elevators with finite state automata. You might want to try that out for an exercise.
