Any skiolled computer users here? I need to know a proxy to get around a council site blocker. I can get around school ones easy, but my council blocks them as well. Who can help me?

Theres a download called Ultraserf that lets you on banned websites. Theres also something called tor that might work that you can download at https://www.torproject.org/download.html.en . If you can go on ninjacloak then that might let you get on banned websites.

it lists web based ones that run from the browser and require no settings to be changed

If you can install programs, then the best one is tor.eff.org

You could always get a TOR USB stick with a secure browser preloaded.

Try using Search engine caches or foreign versions of pages. These tricks often work. The other thing you can do is set up your own proxy at home and connect through that.

That's what I would do. You could also try out Hotspot VPN (I think it's called). It opens up a VPN tunnel and you can browse through that. I can't recall if Hotspot VPN is a free service, however. Still it's worth checking out.

Your COUNCIL blocks it? Isn't that illegal? If not, it freaking should be, that's completely unethical. What country are you in? No free country should block sites.

Anyway, Tor is good, I recommend you use that. For when it's not your own computer, use http://www.rubyfat.com . It works for me when I'm at school.

Some schools use the council as their proxy. If it is that system then you can have a lot of fun putting in requests for them to reopen websites. Often it works lol...
