My computer is a Dell 2003 running Windows XP. The monitor that came with it was a flat screen, and it always worked great, but a couple of weeks ago it wore out. I tried to replace it with a ViewSonic LCD 19” widescreen (the store I was in didn’t carry the 17”.) Got the thing set up and spent a couple of days trying to adjust the settings to produce clear type. Nothing worked. Serif fonts are all blurry at the bottom, 12 font-size Times Roman at 100% is unreadable. The only way I could get satisfactory print clarity is by using Verdana at 16. I switched the ViewSonic with a borrowed 17” Samsung flatscreen, and had exactly the same problem. Some of the letters are fairly clear, and others washed out and very blurry. When I take the same page print and size it differently (like putting two pages side-by-side) words that were blurry before become clearer and different
words are blurry. One person suggested the problem might be the video card in my computer, so I’m thinking about upgrading that. But would that get me print I can read? I don’t use my computer for games or watching films. I just want to be able to read the words without getting a headache. Any suggestions?
