I have windows ME. I install AOL 9.0 from a CD (I forgot why I did) everything worked well until I re-started my PC then I got a message saying that REAL TIME MONITER HAS CAUSE A PROBLEM IN RTMONITER RTmoniter is now quiting. I tried to ran a virus scan I got to the control panel fine but when I ran a scan on my hard drive i got a message saying CAV has cause an error in CAV, and then RUNDLL32 CAV is now exitting then my virus scan goes away. If it does help my anti-virus is called InlocoLAN by chynnie (I belive that is how to spell the name of the company). All I know was it installed after I accidently un-install AVG 7.0. Also "Image Preview" won't load up anymore what should I do?

Well, you should not be using Windows ME or AOL. I've never heard of that AV either. If it is possible to do so, you should consider upgrading to Windows 2000 or XP (or Linux, if that's your thing). Use Firefox instead of AOL 9.0, and get a regular antivirus back on there. Lately I've been using Panda Cloud Antivirus, which is a free download from HERE. It's light, user-friendly, and effective.

It could be Clam AntiVirus (CAV): http://www.clamav.net/, there is a Win32 binary for it.

I do have Puppy Linux as a option to boot up to. I can't update it to 2000 or XP, I use AOL because it came with the Verizon DSL install disc. and my AV according to the help thing says it was from windows 95! How can I hav a AV from 95 if the oldest OS it could have supported was 98?

You shouldn't give out information about your computer here. Because I did once and someone hacked me. This place is full of hackers.

Get a new antivirus then, AVG, Avast, Avira, and Panda are all free downloads.

Um... that's not how it works. There is no way to be able to hack him simple because he posted what operating system and antivirus he runs. I think you are confusing correlation and causation.

Anyways,
uname -r -o -m
2.6.28-11-generic x86_64 GNU/Linux
Would be my system, Ubuntu 9.04 64-bit. There's no antivirus. And no one's going to hack me, because the information I just gave isn't enough for you to be able to find my machine and exploit a security vulnerability.

If you feel comfortable using GNU/Linux, that might be something to consider as I have yet to hear a positive review of Windows ME. Otherwise, a reinstall might be in order, along with a new antivirus and a real web browser.

But of course this site is full of hackers. I'd say a large percentage of hackers are aspies. Who else would have the concentration to produce well-honed software?

I think thyme may be confusing hackers with crackers - a common mistake.

Actually, I only posted because I couldn't resist:
Code:
$ uname -rom
2.6.24-24-generic i686 GNU/Linux

Note that the switches may be all specified together. This is "standard".
For a complete "switch nightmare", have a look at what "tar" will accept ("info tar", in particular "3.3 The Three Option Styles").

Still on Hardy, Lau? Performance has gotten significantly better in 9.04, and after a little bit of tinkering Fuzzy and I managed to get rid of the new notifications style.

Ah... but this is my stable, "workhorse" machine. 8.04 LTS is, of course, supported for another two years.

And... when I tried to upgrade to 8.10, it refused to believe that my GeForce4 was adequate for Compiz, any more - and I soooo like my pretty (and extremely useful) desktop. Another two of my machines have 8.10, and I'll be upgrading them to 9.04 when the demand on the servers has calmed down a bit - like... soon.
