And that's just for one distro. Admittedly, all the distros have a lot of overlap in the code they're using, but I imagine the total value of all currently active Linux distros would be significantly higher even than this.

Well, yeah, but i think it more accurately implies families of distros. For instance, Debian. Of course Ubuntu adds a lot to that, but not an additional 10 billion.
