I think I should get a desktop because it's less expensive than a laptop; about half the price. Does anybody agree?

Yep, if portability isn't an issue, you'll get far more with your money by buying a desktop. Plus, upgrades are much easier, cheaper, and more widely available.

It is cool to be able to take a laptop over to a friend's house, take it on long trips, etc., though.

Well... It all really depends on how you use your computer.
Is it for gaming? Multimedia? Internet? Work?

A desktop would (as already said) be easier to upgrade and probably a better idea if you use if for heavy gaming or such, because generally fast desktops are cheaper than their laptop counterparts.

I like Desktop computers because they are cheaper and I can actually afford a decent one.

Or though a Laptop with about 1ghz or more and some 3d graphics would be good for taking out instead of having to drag my Desktop comp places.

It all depends on what you intend to use it on.

If you really aren't going to be taking it anywhere, a desktop is fine..

I perfer most of my laptops over my desktops, because I do move around alot.

Desktops are easier to upgrade as far as hardware is concerned, because you don't have to take the entire thing apart; however, laptops are becoming just as durable, functional, and quick as the modern desktop.
