At times, but the anime portrayel of many of the Japanese legends really distorts them.
Take Kitsune (Which literally translated means fox, but everywhere but Japan means a fox 'demon' or creature.) for instance. Shippo is a half kitsune half human, which means he is a quarter fox and 3/4ths human as a kitsune is a half human half fox, or a 'werefox'.
I don't really want to go in depth on it, but, most anime take the lore and twist it so badly that it makes me want to hurl.
Another example would be the famous Ruroni Kenshin. The reverse blade, his choice of sword, would shatter upon the slightest impact in real life. Why? Well, a sword, even a double bladed sword has a spine. Let me try to diagram it.
( or )= cutting edge |=spine i=dull edge, without spine. ]=dull part of a normal blade.
A Katana would look like this: (|] The spine is the thicker part of the sword, making it durable and not easy to shatter.
A broadsword would look like this: (|) The spine is in the center, providing support for two cutting edges.
A reverse blade, based on a katana like Kenshin's, would look like this: i)
That blade would be like swinging around a glass rod, the show is completely off basis with any legend I can think of.
Then we can take a look at Inuyasha again. It isn't meant to look real, like it really happened (Kenshin is, to my knowledge.) But, it completely twists the lore out of the original proportions, which annoys me..
Sooo, to close this up, Inuyasha is a cool show-but they should have stuck a bit closer to the actual legends the characters are based off of instead of the chibi look-alikes.
See ya.
I'm sorry to say this but i've seen a rb sword and it doesn't look like this
[|) it looks like a regular katana like the (|] the spine] is what is sharp and is used to cut what you would think to be sharp if the front ( but actualy it is dulled so not to kill but to stun but still Kenshin's sword isn't possiable to make because he filps from this (|] to this [|) which is IMPOSSIABLE what you said is partly incorrect so just wanted to correct that
