I just watched the Werner Herzog film 'The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser' yesterday. I liked it.

On Friday, I saw Moon at the arthouse in Portland.

F-ing S! This movie is good.
Get your ass to your arthouse/theater that plays only indie movies
and see this! This movie ROCKS!

"Eraserhead". A really weird deranged cult film from the 70's.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

It doesn't matter if you like or don't like Harry Potter,
see this movie! It's amazingly well-done!

Yes it's 2 1/2 hours long, but better buy a medium or large drink
to keep you full during the movie. Most of the time is devoted
to who is making-out with who.

Previews Seen Before the Movie:

Sherlock Holmes-Looks funny, it's set to be an entertaning
movie when it opens on Christmas Day.

2012- Roland Emmerich wants the end of the world
to be put on warp speed beginning in November.
Thanks a lot, Roland Emmerich! Opens November 13th.

Shorts- The preview for this played at least 4 times
before the movie started. "I wish for Telephonesis!"
That line had me laughing. Opens August 14th.

G-Force: Despite playing in theaters now, this movie
looks stupid. Have the purchases of guinea pigs gone up already?

I saw 'Master And Commander' with Russell Crowe and Paul Bettany, and I ended up loving it. It was a movie about a marine vessel and its crew in the Napoleontic wars. At first I thought it was a bit wooden with regard to characterisation and plot, and at the same time I was afraid the movie was going to be too violent for my tastes when I saw the cannonballs plunge into the ship's hull en masse. But both concerns were crushed as the movie progressed, and I really liked the interaction between Crowe and Bettany playing the militaristic captain and the refined doctor/naturalist respectively, and the violence wasn't too graphic- no eviscerations.

I didn't know, but the movie was apparently inspired by a series of novels about these characters, so maybe I should chase those down and read them.

Orphan, a psychological horror movie. It wasn't too bad. Drag me to hell, I liked it! The funeral scene alone was great!

I just saw 'The Dambusters' on television, a war movie from 1955. It featured a very unfortunately named black dog (who also dies after being hit by a car halfway into the movie), and that same word was later used as a code word by the pilots to relay to HQ that the dam had been breached.

Even aside from the use of the N word, I thought it was a very slow movie. Very little happened to my tastes. I guess it just wasn't for me, but I believe it's considered a classic (and I even read that the scene of the bombing of the dam inspired the rebels' raid of the Deathstar in Star wars 20 years later). But no, I didn't enjoy this movie.
