That happens next week (saw in on the preview), but I suspect it only happens in an alternate timeline.

I think the series is OKAY so far. My BF loves it, but he was always a big stargate fan. I am waiting to see where this series is going, since it is inherantly unusual in the fact that it is the first sci-fi series without a clear antangonist. I don't think there will be one either. One of the things I noticed with SG-1 and SGA, is the fact they almost always adopted this route. This series doesn't, there is human drama. Even BSG had a clear antagonist in the series. Same goes with Voyager and nearly every Star Trek series (often multiple antagonists). This seems to be moving into different territory, which is positive in some respects, but at the same time may be taking out some of the fun of sci-fi.

Last night's episode of SGU really stunk. It was as if they made it without a script and petered out toward the end without resolving the issue of how they would cure the disease in their water system especially since they failed to catch any of those creatures and the clip from next week's episode looked like it wasn’t going to address the issue either.

I'm not feeling SGU yet. I haven't given up, but it just seems kind of... not as good. I didn't even watch the last episode or two. Planning to DL them or something later.

SG1 and Atlantis are pretty much tied for me. They both had many awesome characters and were exciting and not-emo. (Mostly.) but in SGU the only good character seems to be... the guy whose name I just realized I have no idea how to spell. The gamer, lol. The girl might be cool too, she just hasn't done much yet. And the emo scientist guy... he better turn out to be evil or something, otherwise he sucks. Are there any other characters than that? lol.

There really better be some people or something on those planets way out there. SG has always been good at coming up with reasons for there to be stuff where it shouldn't be, so I'll be expecting some new characters, and they better be cooler than this lot.
More interesting worlds, too. That desert world was just about the most boring thing they could have come up with.

I can forgive everyone going totally emo when they thought they were going to die in a star. Well no, I can't. I can forgive them thinking they would die in the star, because they're not used to that sh** yet. But if it were either of the other SGs, everyone would be frantically exploring as many different avenues as possible to get out of the bad situation, instead of sitting around crying in the dark.

True, but the issue with time loops is that once you establish it, the reality is that they can keep trying to find the cure by capturing a live creature, and if they fail, well, send the Keno back through time until a team gets it right.

They did that in a 2-part SG-1 episode, but they did end it with the team watching a videotape of them in the past, and the item they wanted was found where it was supposed to be, so they never went back in time. Basically ignoring the causality issue altogether.

At least we watched emo-girl get hers...even if it wasn't permanent. ;)

next friday = midseason finale, and from the previews and stuff, it actually seems like they are showing the "Truth" of what is going on, perhaps the antagonist/antagonists making thier reveal.

Also last episode there was an ancient database chair that rush really wants to use, so i guess something may happen with that. (think back to the SG1 episode where oniel had an ancient database uploaded to his brain.)

as for what hasnt been resolved with the alternate timeline episodes, it was continued with a webisode on the website. and also the webisodes tend to tie loose ends from what ive seen so far. It also seems miss crybaby has grown up and stopped as well.

The chair, I think anyhow, isn't going to turn out to be a database. I think it may be a neural interface similar to the one on the Star Trek Voyager episode "Alice".

true, but im just saying what they have been hinting at.

I can definitely say though that the series is starting to pick up In my Opinion. And i am enjoying it thus far. I just hope it runs for another season or two, despite what the reviews say. Firefly syndrome anyone? (yes, i enjoy wasting hours on tvtropes.org sometimes.)

It is picking up. There's some junk which would be better if they didn't portray, such as all the needless sex scenes.

The show will probably be much better after the ship is fully operational. Perhaps if they find an Icarus type planet send the whiny people home it would be immensely better.

When I saw the chair, I thought is was a prototype of the control chair requiring the Ancient gene to be able to use.

I like both SG-1 and Atlantis. Always liked Atlantis more but both were really great shows.

Stargate 90210 is awful.

Frankly, I think Atlantis ended too early. McKay was an interesting, but annoying character, and he really seemed to "grow up" in that episode where he shot himself up with that chemical so he'd have the strength to overcome his captors and get to the stargate so he could get help for the rest of his team.

This new "maturity" in the McKay character started to add depth to the show, and it seemed not long afterward (a season or so) it was concluded.
