How old are you?

Things like The Simpsons and almost all TV come to think of it was never barred for me. Only when I was younger were very violent films not allowed. And by the time I was 12 or 13 I was watching all manner of extreme horror. Never did me too much harm because I have a decent head on my shoulders. Not everyone is like that.

We weren't allowed to watch it either when I was little but, my Dad watched it so did my brothers.

I can understand your situation if a kid is impressionable. But I love that show, and I could always watch it.

The simpsons? That's G-rated!

I've watched that show since I was about 6.

Almost. But not quite. It's 'PG' where I come from - probably the same where you live too. But it's a family show, although I haven't watched it in ages.

I am allowed to watch The Simpsons. But then, I'm 44 years old...

Seriously, though, when I was a kid, even through high school, my parents placed restrictions on my TV viewing, both what I watched and how much. The restrictions got looser as I got older, to the point that by my last year of high school it was pretty much anything I wanted. The Simpsons would likely have been on the "not allowed" list until I was into my teens, I suspect.

(And another favourite, South Park, would have been on the "not as long as you live in this house" list...)
