Does anyone here remember the show Mama's Family here? Did anyone like it?

I still watch it in reruns and I think it's a great show. The characters in this show are great and funny.

Yeah, I liked watching that show. They used to play the reruns on TBS but they took them off the air. :( I thought Mama and her family was so crazy.

The reruns can still be seen on ION TV. I don't know if a lot of you here have that channel but if you're on the east coast of the US it's channel 31 in most areas, it replaced the PAX network.

Did Ken Berry really have that accent, or was he just acting?

...Does anybody remember the - so to speak - Version 1.0/Mk. 1 version of Mama's Family that ran on the Carol Burnett Show in the 70s ????????? I'd like to see it again .
It had Carol Burnett , who was only a very occasional guest star?? on the sit-com version , as a regular character...And the thing is , it really wasn't very funny ! !! !! !! !!
It was pretty harrowing :x :D ! Mama was always yelling at Eunice ( I think that was Carol's character's name . ) , " You never was no good and you never will be any good ! !! !! !! " .
The sit-com version very much " nicened " it...
I recall Ken Berry speaking more " normally " - less Southern-ly .
Anyone recall a, really short-lived , variety show he hosted in the 70s , " Ken Berry's ' WOW! ' Show ! " ?????????

That was the sketch Mama's Family was based on, on The Carol Burnett Show.

Ken Berry must not have an accent in real life.

...Yes , and I suppose the only way to see the " sketch " version is on a complete DVD set?? of the Carol Burnett Show that may not have reached that point yet anyway???
Where was the " tri-state area " Mama's Family was taking place in ?

I wonder if the lady's name is actually Eunice in the sketch.

Yes, I remember those skits. I did not watch too many them. The ones that I watched were okay, they were pretty funny in my opinion. I do agree that the sitcom version was better.

...Well , yes and no .
I'm inclined to want to see the sketch version again more , I never watched , especially in its initial run , the sit-com version all that much . I was watching less TV by then...
