The Day After

It was a made for TV movie in the 80s about nuclear war, but I found it on YouTube. I read the Wikipedia and IMDB entries detailing the media hype before it premiered, and thought "Wow"

I remember watching it back in my junior high days, and having the poop scared out of me at the time.

I was almost 4 when it came out, but I don't think we watched it. I'm almost 37, and I had the poop scared out of me.

I think the best disaster film of all time was either Towering Inferno or the Poseidon Adventure. They have that touch of class that only Irwin Allen could provide.

Mike And Dave Need Wedding Dates.

Two adult brothers, Mike and Dave, who never grew up, and who have the bad rep for always getting drunk and ruining family gatherings with their shenanigans, are given the ultimatum by their parents that they must find wedding dates for their sister's wedding. Going on the internet and TV searching for "nice girls," two "not-nice girls" decide to hook the two brothers to get a free trip to Hawaii. While it had it's comedic moments, this movie was for the most part NOT FUNNY!

I saw "Thank You For Smoking" yesterday, which I thought was a great film. IMDb describes it as a "satirical comedy", but considering the serious nature of the film (i.e. how many people die each year from smoking) I didn't find it funny as such, but more a brilliant insight into the ruthlessness of the tobacco industry. That's not to say that I couldn't recognize the points in the film where I was meant to laugh, but the seriousness of the topic overrode any desire on my part to do so.

Idiocracy is genius. Secretary of Education IQ Test: "If you have 1 bucket with 2 gallons and 1 bucket with 4 gallons, how many buckets you got?"
