Vladimir Sorokin's "Blue Salo"
and of course, Jodorowsky's "Dune".
I've seen the Dune film staring Patrick Stewart. I don't know anything about the other two.
Patrick Stewart Dune - better known as David Lynch's Dune, was the Studio's second(?) attempt to make the film, after Jodorowsky's Dune got cancelled.
The crew of Jodorowsky's Dune was picked up by Ridley Scott to create Alien - except, they replaced the art of Moebius with that of H.R.Giger - which made sense, of course.
But Jodorowsky's Dune was supposed to have Orson Wells as Baron Harkonnen, and Salvador Dali. Everything about it was 70s grandiose space opera, think Heavy Metal, but bigger.
Vladimir Sorokin is a russian postmodern sci fi author, and Blue Salo is my fabourite of his absurd sci fi tales. He has written some screenplays, and the films are fun and weird enough, but the scale and absurdity of Blue Salo is possibly unfilmable.
Taiyou Matsumoto is a Manga artist, who has written and drawn Ping-pong, which was made into a series, and Tekkonkinkreet, which is one of the greatest anime features ever, not the least because of the breathtaking art style, paired with some seriously impressive 3D, making it a very dynamic animation.
