Hollywood will often attempt remakes of successful French, Italian and Korean movies. But, a lot of Indian movies wouldn't work anywhere else. Especially the romantic comedies, where the parents and extended families get involved.

Ayushmann Khurrana plays a man who is much too shy to approach the girl that he likes. So, he has his parents ask her parents to marry her, through the internet. The girl (played by Bhumi Pednekar) is shocked to learn that she is engaged when she overhears her father mentioning it to her uncle, and she doesn't know who the man is.

They plan a huge Indian wedding, but the principal conflict is that the man is impotent, and everyone is the community has some advice to offer.

Very good Canadian film.

Oh my cod I can't believe how lazy I've been today. I don't even feel guilty about it either.

I've watched two and a half movies.

1. Profile. Really good and I would absolutely recommend it.

2. The Commuter. This was also really good and would also recommend.

3. The deepest Breath. I'm only part way through this. It's more of a documentary but it is really good. It's about free diving.

All 3 are on netflips.

The Batman I thought it was fantastic.
Eddie a film from 1996 which I enjoyed.

The last few movies I watched were all pretty terrible - (The House of the Spirits, The Whale, Smile). The last good movie I watched was Good Luck to You, Leo Grande, which I really enjoyed.

I got a Letterboxd notification this morning telling me that Possession, an early 80s French horror that I've really wanted to see for a while, had just been added to my streaming service, so I may give that one a go tonight.

The director intended it to be a direct sequel to Dracula [1931] and I think did a good job. Cage's Dracula even strongly resembles Lugosi's (and the Renfields in the two movies also look alike). I don't think it would be amiss to watch the two films together.

If you do watch the 1931 film, however, I recommend watching the original version, not the one with a score by Philip Glass added. I like Glass's music but the versions of the film I've seen with his score have the music so loud it interferes with the movie.

So, my husband chose the Swedish film: 'The Year I Started Masturbating' as our film yesterday.

It's not as raunchy as he hoped, but there are sex scenes. And some laugh out loud scenes.

It's basically the classic indie film plot of: main character is living a good life, or so they think. Then a major event happens, their life falls apart, they find new friends/ lovers and start a new, better life.

My favourite type of plot! I'm not a fan of car chases and action scenes.
