Behind Your Touch (2023)
Finished watching this Korean series on Netflix. 16 episodes.
I would describe it as a romantic comedy murder thriller.
Bong Ji-bun is a sweet loveable veterinarian, following in the footsteps of her grandfather. She was orphaned when her mother allegedly died by suicide, and she is raised by her aunt. Her grandfather does not believe teh suicide story, and she starts questioning it as well. Was it murder, and why?
Moon Jang-yeol is a big city (Soeul) diligent detective demoted to a small laid back town where everyone knows everyone else. People tend to be annoyed by his laser like focus on upholding the law. He is annoyed by the cases they get because they are small and not as exciting as the killing and drug cases he handled in Seoul.
Ji-bun's life gets complicated when a small meteor hits just outside a barn while she is examine a cow, along with the owner, while she is examining the cow's behind. She mysteriously gets the psychic ability to see living thing's past when she touches their butts.
Meanwhile, a body found with multiple random stab wounds. Then a second body is discovered. Jang-yeol suspects a serial killer.
When Moon Jang-yeol discovers Ji-bun's ability, and she isn't just a pervert touching people's butts, he uses her ability to search for clues. They don't particularly care for each other. Meanwhile, she is infatuated with a likeable young man who becomes a prime suspect.
There is mystery and the threads of different stories overlap and intertwine. Throughout the whole series, we are kept guessing who the killer is, just as Detective Moon is kept guessing. Nothing is as it seems.
