Mystery Science Theater

Season 8 - September 6, 1997
Episode 17 - The Horror of Party Beach ( 1964)

The Horror of Party Beach: Wikipedia wrote:
Toxic waste illegally dumped in the ocean turns the skeletal crew of a sunken ship into a group of murderous plant/fish monsters. The creatures soon crawl out of the sea and attack a beachside community, forcing a teenage girl, her boyfriend, and her scientist father to stop them.

I found the riffs funny.

Observations about the movie.
The description says a teenage girl (actual age 30), her boyfriend (actual age 21), and her scientist father (actual age unknown) get credit for stopping the monsters.
Who discovers what destroys the creatures? Eulabelle, the family housekeeper and cook. She is black, and portrayed as someone that believes in zombies, and voodoo. She is met with remarks that suggest she is is ignorant of the real world with her magical beliefs. She replies in a voice that sounds like she is from Gone with the Wind, a southern uneducated black woman prone to hysterics. As said, she is the one that stumbles on what destroys the monster. Accidently, yes, and the script shows it as a bumbling "Lord have mercy! I've done destroyed your zombie arm." moment. Still, she is the one that discovers it.
Then when the boyfriend is ready to give up because he has gone through the whole phone book looking for someone that sells the compound that destroys the monsters. He tells her he is giving up, even though he only has "a couple" he has not called. Eulabelle is the person that tells him to keep going because that is the only thing that can save them. He makes one more call and what do you know? They sell the element. And what is this element?
Sodium. It reacts with the water in the mutant's body and they go up in flames.
Eulabelle is the hero. Also, Eulabelle Moore, who plays Eulabelle, may be the only actor in this movie that has other acting credits. Well a few of the actors were in three movies, but the "heroes" and most of the cast each has one movie credit, which is The Horror of Party Beach. The point is, I serious believe this is an example old fashion racism.
The two of the writers of this film have one writing credit. The third has three writing credits. This is the only movie was not an adult film.

One actor was in a film call Another Day, Another Man whose taglines were "Sex without Shame!" and "Raw Naked Violence" My curiosity should be peaked, but it is not.

I've been watching MST3K Thanksgiving in June (June 26-July 4) on Shout TV (also YouTube)
I'm watching The Prince of Space, a Japanese Sci-Fi film from 1959. I will not post anything about it.

Mystery Science Theater 3000

Season 13 - June 10, 2022
Episode 5 - Doctor Mordrid

I like this movie, and I enjoyed Emily Connor (Emily Marsh) and the bots' riffing. I really enjoy Kelsy Ann Brady's vocalization of Crow T Robot and Conor McGiffin's Tom Servo. Yvonne Freese does the voice for GPC (formally Gypsy)
The episode was directed by Jonah Ray, the host in seasons 11 and 12.

My older son and I once enjoyed a live performance of Mystery Science Theater 3000 in late 2021.
Quote:
Following the wildly successful “Watch Out for Snakes! Tour” in 2017, the “30th Anniversary Tour” in 2018, and “The Great Cheesy Movie Circus Tour” in 2019, Mystery Science Theater 3000 LIVE is launching the next all new production to hit the road! Join host Emily Connor (Emily Marsh) and the world’s greatest – and only – movie riffing robots, Tom Servo (Conor McGiffin), Crow (Nate Begle), and GPC (Yvonne Freese), as they take you on an exhilarating rollercoaster ride through the film Making Contact, imposed by Mad Scientist, Mega-Synthia (Yvonne Freese). Now you can sit in the same theater with your favorite characters and experience this long running comedy phenomenon in a universally-acclaimed LIVE event.

Mega-Synthia is a clone of Synthia, who is a clone of Pearl Forester. The clone of a clone is a bit unstable.
They riffed The Bubble and Manos The Hands of Fate

Indeed. There are several things in this episode that are real mingled with fabricated. It is one of my favorite episodes, and I remember it giving me an wonderful uneasy feeling, along with several laughs at Mulder's expense.

TV Episodes You Have Just Watched

The Avengers

Series 2 - September 29. 1962
Episode 1 - Mr. Teddy Bear

I still enjoy The Avengers, but honestly, it does not tickle my brain like it did when I was a kid in the late sixties and maybe early seventies when it was in syndication on weekends in the U.S. I don't recall seeing any episodes with Cathy Gale. I mostly remember Mrs. Peal and then the transition to Tara King. I did not take the change well.

Dixon Of Dock Green (1970)

A police series that ran from 1955-1976 on UK TV, starring Jack Warner as an old-fashioned London 'copper' of a type unrecognizable in today's Britain.

Ironheart.

Sasha Baron-Cohen makes an appearance as Mephisto, a Satanic super villain, who tempted the show's chief antagonist, Parker, and now has tempted our Irongirl, Riri.

I watched the last 2 episodes of The Handmaid's Tale yesterday but I don't think I was paying proper attention to it
So I'll have to tune in and watch it again

Off Topic
I'm an Aspie so, re The Avengers:
○ Season 1 is mostly "lost"...like some of the early Doctor Who. The BBC did not keep copies!
This is the Dr. Keel era
○ Seasons 2 & 3 are the Mrs. Gale era, good but not much humor,
with a few episodes with Dr. King and a few episodes with Venus Smith instead of Mrs. Gale
○ Seasons 4–6 were the Mrs. Peel era...the best era of The Avengers!
○ Season 7 was the Miss King era, but one episode had Lady Diana Forbes-Blakeney, instead

Honor Blackman ("Mrs. Gale") took Judo lessons for her part and became TV's first female action hero. BUT...The Avengers wasn't broadcast in the U.S. until Season 4, so Diana Rigg ("Mrs. Peel") became American TV's first female action hero.

Apparently the episodes were released in a different order in Britain and the U.S. And both orders seem flawed to me. Mostly, I recommend finding a list showing when the individual episodes were recorded and playing them in that order.

Season 1, Episode 1, is a bad experience for Dr. King and required some avenging...hence the show's name!
