And why?

I would say mine are:

Best
Female: Nicole Kidman - She seems to make any character come alive and can carry a really bad movie (stepford wives remake). She also made the Golden Compass worth watching.

Male: Ian McKellen - Everything he touches he makes his own. Magneto in X-men was played tongue in cheek I think and he did it perfect

Worst
Female: MADONNA - She absolutely does not know how to get into character and forget who she is when she is in a film.

Male: Hayden Christianson - I am saying him because of the disaster that was Darth Vader. To be fair it was a lot to ask a young actor to play the most famous villain in cinema history, but he didn't even seem to try to make it convincing.

I think any actor or actress who gets leading roles just because of their looks is a terrible actor, like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

Now some of my favorite actors are Johnny Depp and Uma Thurman. Johnny Depp can play any kind of role even though most of his roles are a little on the crazy and weird side, and Uma Thurman did an amazing job in Kill Bill because of the way she got dirty and sweaty during action scenes and made it look so realistic. The only problem I have with Uma is that every movie she stars in (including Kill Bill) tries to convince us that she's the hottest woman on this planet when she's really not that sexy looking.

I'm not really decided on the best actor or actress.
The worst actor is probably Tommy Wiseau, but he's so good at being awful he ends up being really good . :)

Best: Edward Norton, Kevin Spacey, Sam Rockwell, Tom Hanks, Robin Williams (is a surprisingly amazing actor when doing serious roles),

Worst: Keanu Reeves, Nicolas Cage

Maybe a bit biased because I haven't seen these actors play too many different roles, but I do like Terry O'Quinn, Michael Emerson, and Simon Baker. Robin Williams is also good. Like Jack Nicholson, and Jim Carrey is funny. Have only seen him in Caddyshack, but Rodney Dangerfield seemed funny, too. Finally, there's Mike Meyers.

Not quite the same, but I do like a few voice actors. Robin Atkin Downes is probably my favorite, though Cam Clarke is good as well. Paul Eiding also deserves a mention.

They're probably not the worst in my view, but certainly some of the most overrated.

Walton Goggins has become an excellent actor.

Keanu Reeves is still a bellend.

Best
-Jodie Foster (I like her intelligence and her strong character)
-Winona Ryder (She can put herself in a lot of different roles and I find her unique and someone who I can relate to, also she's not what the media classify's as "perfect")
-Dakota Fanning (She can put herself into different roles and I must say, I wasn't a big fan of her when she was younger but she has certainly evolved into an amazing actress)
-Kristen Stewart (I'm not too fond of her in Twilight but her pre-Twilight years were good, I thought she seemed intelligent and had spunk)
-Kate Winslet (She's just good in almost every role she plays)
-Ryan Phillippe (I'm not going to lie, I love his looks but I also really like his intensity)
-Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Again, looks and intensity)
-Johnny Depp (I'm actually not a big fan of a lot of the movies he plays in but he's still an amazing, intelligent actor who can play almost any part he sets his mind to and I do like a couple of his movies)
-Shirley Temple (as a child star I just liked her spunk and her movies were always happy and I liked the songs)
-Cameron Diaz (this girl came a long way in her career, I find that her latest movies have been getting better and better, she's definitely grown as an actress)
-Adam Sandler (he always makes me laugh with the majority of his movies and I like how his movie portray lots of different types and races of people, not always the "picture perfect person")
-Luke Wilson (I used to have a major crush on him but I don't anymore, he just seems like a funny, good guy)
-Drew Barrymore (she really turned around her life and after that she starred in some really good movies, she's a good actress and seems like a genuinely nice woman)
-Rachel McAdams (she's a good actress and she seems like such a good person in real life as well as her acting)
-Kat Dennings (she's just really funny and down to earth)
-Aubrey Plaza (her acting reminds me of myself and her face kind of looks like mine)
-Melissa Gilbert (because I was obsessed with Little House as a child and I still love the show)
-Megan Follows (she did such a good portrayal of Anne on Anne of Green Gables)
-Brittany Murphy (she was a funny actress)
-Alison Lohman (she's a great actress)
-Michelle Pfeiffer (good actress and is good at playing just about any role)
-Natalie Portman (another great actress who is good at playing different roles)
-Abigail Breslin (I usually don't care for child actors but I like Abigail)
-Julie Andrews (she definitely earns a spot for great acting and singing)
-Lindsay Lohan (bad mouth her all you want but she has made some pretty decent movies)
-Audrey Hepburn (a classically good actress)
-Steve Carell (he's hilarious in almost every role he takes on, I miss him in The Office)
-Hilary Swank (she seems like such a sweet person and she's funny, her acting is really good)

Worst
-Tom Cruise (He's arrogant and very weird)
-Reese Witherspoon (I just can't stand her for some reason, I mean she seems like a good person outside of acting but I just can't stand her as an actress)
-Evan Rachel Wood (I liked her in the movie Thirteen but otherwise I see her as a very boring actress with no talent, for me it was just a one hit wonder for her)
-Nicholas Cage (He just seems creepy to me and he just sucks as an actor)
-Hugh Grant (I find he's very annoying, he makes me nervous and he's not funny at all)
-Megan Fox (stick with the pornos Megan because you can't act)
-Marilyn Monroe (see above)
-Miley Cyrus (just her voice makes me retch)

I'm sure there's more but that's all I can think of for now.

Best - Johnny Depp. He's so good that he has all but convinced me that his characters are real people. In fact most of the movies he has done with Tim Burton are my special interests.

Yes. I think that happens too much with the likes of Tom Cruise or Ben Affleck or Brad and Angie. I think its a shame because a lot of good actors don't get a chance because of these big names. I think Nicole Kidman deserves her roles though because she really does act well and I don't think her looks are the reason she gets her roles.

Meryl Streep: Because she can always seem to get into her characters and whatever role she is playing.

Jack Nicholson: He is such a character and he gets into whatever character he is playing as well.
