^ Uma and and Garefalo (?) right? I remember liking that one too.

I just got done watching Raising Arizona. The Coen brothers have to rank near the top of my favorite filmmakers. They have such diversity in their work, but always entertaining to watch.

I saw parts of The Descent 2 with my brother. That movie is pretty scary.

"Never Let Me Go" is basically a story about people whose lives are not their own. (Much the same theme as "The Remains of the Day" also by Kazuo Ishiguro) The ending of the book gives a sense that Cathy, the main character, continues to accept her fate and never fights to live her own life. The ending of the film takes a bit of a left turn to give an un-ambiguous statement at the end. I prefer the ambiguity of the book.

The film is worth seeing if you like stories about the nature of identity and personal freedom. If you liked "The Remains of the Day" you might also like "Never Let Me Go" But I also recommend the book.

I saw "Never Let Me Go" a few days ago. Very bleak, depressing, well-acted, and filmed. Never read the book, but it was very clear in the movie that Kathy, Ruth, and Tommy were programmed not to run off into hiding. The movie's message was also clear: Live your life
to the fullest and love well.

I'm choking up just writing this.
The movie had some plot holes but had a beautiful, sad ending.

I just watched the diamond edition of Beauty and the Beast on DVD and I have to say I actually enjoyed this movie alot more than I did in the past. To me it use to be one of those girly type animated movie that I probably should have avoided but I think alot of men both straight and gay(not that by the way) would enjoy this movie. I think it was because of guys like the Nostalgia Critic and my love of other animated movies e.g. Toy Story, Wall.e and Shrek that makes me like this movie and other similar ones e.g Sleeping Beauty and The Little Mermaid.

I've been watching TV boxsets lately, but the last film a week ago was Wrong Turn 3. Not bad, but I still prefer the 1st one.

Just picked up the DVD of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. This movie gets me so pumped it's not even funny.

I watched Due Date recently. I was extremely disappointed.

I enjoyed Jackass 3-D about as much as you CAN enjoy a Jackass movie.

Batwoman. As it's a Guillermo Calderon Stell movie he borrows liberally from previous movies he produced. Batwoman is called in on the case in Acapulco because wrestlers have been found dead with the pineal gland stolen. A boat is anchored off the shore run by a Dr. Williams who attempts to use these glands on fish to create fish-men. Batwoman sneaks on board the boat and is captured. She breaks free and throws acid in Dr. Williams' face. The subtitles helpfully say "Arrghhh" . Earlier we see "Ha ha ha ha" when he laughs after describing his plan for "de-evolution" and creating fish men. Williams creates a fish man and wants to send him after Batwoman to capture her so that her pineal gland can be stolen too. Williams' assistant is called... guess.... that's right, Igor.

As I said, Stell likes to borrow from previous movies. The acid in the face and revenge for same plot was used in Doctor of Doom that used the same actor in the role. The doctor even repeats that line about women being better suited for these experiments "for many biological reasons". This line is used in Doctor of Doom, in Santo in the Treasure of Dracula, in Santo and Blue Demon vs Frankenstein.

Oh, Batwoman not only drops into Acapulco by parachute but when she's headed to headquarters one of the reporters say "As Batwoman is being called in it must be a very complicated case." Batwoman naturally is a wrestler who is good at "all sports" and we see her shoot bullseyes, ride horses and go scuba diving to prove it.

I saw Shutter Island and Fast Times At Ridgemont High over the weekend. Both good films but in completely different ways. I'm looking forward to watching Shutter Island again as it's the kind of film that deserves repeat viewings. I found the music to be bloody annoying though.
