Her

What's that?

Ted (played by Joaquin Phoenix) is a man with Aspie-ish traits to him who makes a living writing letters for other people. He feels alone and depressed citing the divorce from his childhood girlfriend Catherine (played by Rooney Mara) as the factor.

One day, Ted receives a new AI system embodied by a female voice named Samantha (voiced by Scarlett Johannason) who at first helps Ted recover from the divorce by becoming his BFF, but later their relationship becomes something more than just platonic.

Spike Jones (Being John Malkovich) wrote and directed Her and won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.

Olivia Wilde and Amy Adams co-star. Overall, a brilliant movie.

Okay, I recall it now.

Horror Castle

Italian produced film released in 1964. Some critics see this as an 'atmospheric' mini-masterpiece, but others rate it as a bit of a dud. Regrettably, I'm in the latter camp. The plot and the acting are really uninspired, and it's only in the last ten minutes that it gets remotely interesting. Stars Rossana Podesta, who made her name in the mid-1950s playing Helen of Troy in a film called, er, Helen Of Troy.

I spent the best part of an hour trying to get an old bootleg dvd of this to work properly, then failing to rip it to an mp4 file, before discovering that it was on YouTube all the time. A lot of effort expended for a disappointing outcome.

So did I although I felt very tempted to tape my mom's mouth shut because she hated all
the f-bombs that were in the movie.

Joaquin Phoenix gave a great performance in this film.

You Should Have Left.

Haunted house horror movie. A married couple - an older man with a past married to a rising starlet - along with their daughter rent a house in Wales as a getaway. There, nightmare and reality begin to merge as the dimensions of the house keep altering. First rate example of what has been called "quiet horror."

What are your opinions, Sister Ashley?

I enjoyed Ford VS Ferrari and Knives Out, but never got a chance to watch 1917.

Hello, Brother AA!

I enjoyed them, too. Good stories.

Sonic the Hedgehog

Better than I thought. Same with Jim Carrey as Robotnik
