yup. not so sentimental is the part where he breaks the guys neck with a shovel after the guy almost chops his leg off with said shovel. amazed this movie got a G rating in 1971. i think you oughta give nosso lar a chance.

There's a lot of interesting stuff about LSD and transformation of the mind starting with Aldous Huxley and moving to Chico Xavier and more recently the writings of former British journalist Graham Hancock.

they shall not grow old. astounding use of DSP to get that old shaky WW1 footage looking as real and live as they did. very good assemblage of existing footage into a storytelling narrative, reminiscent of ken burns on steroids.

nah, it was made for the 100th anniversary of the war's conclusion in england a few years back. it shows the english in battle in grainy shaky handheld 16mm footage that was de-grained, up-rezzed, full-motion framed, wide-screened, and in vivid color. it could have been filmed yesterday but for the historical context.

Die Screaming, Marianne

A Pete Walker film, released in 1971. Susan George stars in a convoluted plot in which her father (LeoGenn) and half-sister try to rob her of her inheritance, aided by an accomplice. Susan's new husband (Barry Evans) is dragged into the proceedings, and it all ends very messily for all but one of the protagonists.

Not great to watch at all, but some interesting people in the cast. One such is Judy Huxtable, the wife of Peter Cook, allegedly a phenomenally attractive woman (Cook referred to her as 'Sexburga', LOL), but here she looks rather skeletal, and reminded me of the way David Bowie looked during this period. She plays the half-sister, btw.

The commentary by Pete Walker on my NTSC dvd was a lot more interesting than the film itself.
