Ah, but you'd agree that it was better than the Next Doctor?

Also - why does everyone hate the girl? She wasn't as bad as Melanie Bush.

I think because she was just a bit too perfect for a Doctor Who companion. Ironically, they were going to have a companion like her join the Seventh Doctor after Ace leaves. I don't hate her, I just think she was just too perfect, from a dramatic point of view.

I dunno. At least The Next Doctor had an interesting twist in the tale. Planet of the Dead might have worked better with the Nimon, suitably modified. That being said, the Swarm's conception as a sort of living Faraday Cage was kind of interesting, although I personally reckon that this would have safely fitted into a regular one-episode story. And Professor Malcolm just pissed me off. Although I did like his reference to my nom de plume....

Yeah, it's like, she was too competent and it made her almost too much like the Doctor. She didn't need the him for anything, and he didn't really need her. But she wasn't bad. They just didn't have a good dynamic relationship.

And I also agree that Planet of the Dead could have just been a regular episode. D: It also felt sort of redundant. I was picking out which characters I thought were going to die, and wondering when the Doctor would get fed up with it and just bitchslap the Swarm or something. And then he left all emo and alone AGAIN because he doesn't want to get another companion killed. (Or screwed over.) It's definitely the same kind of thing that's happened multiple times in the new series. (And maybe the old one? I don't know, I'm a newbie.) I'm ready for some new stuff. Some new weird creepy stuff like the Library and the Weeping Angels.

I think that they have already created something that kills Fendahl...

That being said, I should watch Image of the Fendahl when it comes out on DVD over here...

I remember reading the taking of planet 5 and being a bit miffed by the Fendahl predator.

It's irritating that everytime they create an unstoppable force, the new series, or the books create a cop-out ending.

I like the way you have the
- Fendahl who are death and can't be killed (and are the Doctor's nightmares)
- Sutekh who is much more powerful that the Doctor
- The Great Intelligence who can't be killed (just disconnected - and perhaps drained)
- The Chronovores who (mostly) can't be reasoned with
- The Daemons who don't give a ....

I thought that the unmentioned chained devil in the new series was interesting but most of the other villains have been small fry.

It irritates me a bit the way the doctor keeps totally defeating the daleks and yet they come back. Genesis wasn't like that... there, it was only a small victory - if it was a victory at all since he failed in his mission.

Let's hope that Matt Smith can be a humbler doctor.

It would be an interesting change. A younger-looking, but much older-acting Doctor.

And even though they were small-fry, the enemies Steven Moffat have written in are still chilling threats. The Empty Child, the Clockwork Monsters, the Weeping Angels, and the Vashta Nerada.

Personally, I'm hoping that the main villain of the Christmas special is either the Black Guardian, the Toymaker, or Fenric.

There are certainly rumours of the involvement of Timothy Dalton, and I think he'd make a good Black Guardian.

I'm a Doctor Who fan, but I've only seen a few episodes of the old series and the Doctor Who movies.
I've seen every single episode of the new series

Doctor Who is one of my favorite shows of all time.

I grew up watching reruns of the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth and Seventh Doctor episodes on PBS and I enjoy the revival quite a bit.

It's weird being a Doctor Who fan in America. Here its considered to be one of the nerdiest shows you could possibly watch, which is quite a different from the UK, where its popularity cuts a wide swath.

I met Tom Baker! He was so awesome and it was so awesome. Even though I couldn't make conversation with him because I was just so damn nervous, he shook my hand though! And I had a photo with him. That was a good convention. In answer to your question- I love Doctor Who! I don't think I could last a day without thinking about Tom Baker because I'm so obsessed with him and his era, even though I'm 15. When I went to said convention I was one of the youngest fans there. My favourite ever Tom Baker episode so far is Brain of Morbius- does anyone know was Image of the Fendahl is like? I know there's a character in it who shares my name! I really hope the Doctor says it, hopefully I'll get it for my birthday...I HOPE! :D :D :D :D :D 8O 8O 8O :D

I have only met one Doctor Who actor, back at the end of January, during my trip to the UK. This was just after I watched a pantomime in Bath (Jack and the Beanstalk) with Colin Baker starring as the villainous Fleshcreep (believe me, you haven't heard anything until you hear Colin Baker sing 'Timewarp' from The Rocky Horror Picture Show).

Unfortunately, he seemed to be in a hurry to get home (it was after 8:30 pm, admittedly), so I couldn't do much more than get one autograph and make a brief conversation. He asked where I was from, and when I replied 'Australia', he said, "Blimey, that's a long way away". I was going to try to get him to autograph a few DVD covers I had brought with me, but I saw that he was in a hurry to get back home, or at least to his hotel. A few days later, I learned from his website, he was off to New York.

I'm really too young to be into the 'original' Doctor Who, but I have a few of the novels and I adore the Christopher Eccleston/David Tennant Doctor Who.

I also really love Torchwood.
