Is it just me or are most Disney movies based off of books?

the problem is that Disney becomes (to generations of kids) the definative version of the classic books and novels. They're starting to make up some things on their own, but it's very much a business. it's a shame, in a way...

Anyone else looking forward to the new Alice in Wonderland that's coming out?

I wasn't. Thought it'd be kids crap, but when I saw the trailer that was shown before Avatar started, I thought, "That looks neat as hell!!" Of course, I didn't want to see Avatar to begin with but went because my uncle who took me wanted to see it, and he's dying, but it blew me away.

That trailer was even made for 3D, and it was hilarious at the very beginning of the trailer when that cat's face poked out of the screen at the audience with that abnormally large grin.

Um, yeah, that's kind of a thing with Disney. Making adaptations of books that are suitable for all ages and combining things like high-quality animation and memorable music with classic story characters. They actually improved on the stories. The Seven Dwarfs didn't have their famous names and personalities in the original Grimm's story, for example, they were just a bunch of generic dwarfs.

Disney adaptions are something of a tribute to the original stories, at least back when Walt was still alive, and again in the late 80's to mid-90's. And they're not the only animation company that's done it, and a lot of live action movies have as well. It's just that some are much better at doing it for some reason.

Why are some people so negative? (Of course they're probably teen and young adult males, mostly) I grew up with Disney and it was a big and happy part of my life. At least until maybe after the late 90's, anyway. All Hollywood movies began to really lose quality after that.

I don't get why some people think Don Bluth's An American Tale and The Land Before Time or even All Dogs Go to Heaven are so great. I watched them, and they were pretty boring and average, although not nearly as bad as the later movies where they tried TOO hard to be like Disney.
