I would recommend Shugo Chara! except I can only find subs online.

I second this one. And yes, favoring dubs over subs to the point that you will refuse to watch anything that is not dubbed is indeed awkward. It narrows the options and might exclude some of the best magical girl anime that the responders have seen. You might as well just read the manga. It's pretty good, too. Maybe better.

I just finished watching two episodes of Shuro Chara! on Crunchyroll. It seems pretty interesting, and I might watch more episodes later on. I am trying to get better about my dislike of subs, but I can't just completely change my preference from dub to sub. I just love dubbed anime. As I've stated before, another reason why I dislike watching anime on the internet is because I'd rather have it on DVD, even if it is sub only. It adds another anime to my collection, and it lets me know that I'm supporting the anime industry.

What I often do is watch sub online, then I buy them on DVD when I can. I tell you one, since you live in America, you have the good luck of just getting the dub of Spice and Wolf released, now this series is very popular, it is about a guy who travels with a magical wolfgirl diety, and manags to make complex economics very interesting to watch.

Also maybe you could enjoy watching of the anime only released recently, since you are looking for magical girl, being released lately is Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu (The Idiot, the Test and the Summoned Beast), I am actually useing an avatar from it, it is very funny and I think the japanese voice acting is particulary good. Try to watch a couple episodes (or just one) and not laugh. Or maybe Bakemonogatari or which has been one of the most popular in recent years, and it basicly requires you to pause to read text that explains background plot.

Also in a few weeks a new anime will be starting called Angel Beats, what is to be noted of this is that it is writen by KEY, the same writers as such anime as kanon, there are high hopes for it.

I dont know if the dub is accurate but I highly recommend Pretear. It's only 13 episodes long and has it's comical characters and moments but it also gets emotionally moving as the show progresses. And there's lots of good character development.

Although any anime could pull that but I was highly impressed with this one. I've been meaning to show it to my sister but I rarely hang out with anymore.

Also though I dunno if you could really call it a magical girl anime: Fushigi Yuugi. 52 episodes of EPIC. Stick with the regular series though dont bother with the sequels unless you want to.

Funny thing about both shows...they're both about a school girl with 7 magical male guardians!

That'll be a bit difficult unless someone fansubs the episodes and burns them on DVD for you. However, at least try to look at them on the internet. In addition to YouTube, I foudn them on Dailymotion and Veoh. One of my favorite ones is Sailor Moon, but the dub is pretty terrible, but at least it has a general idea of the story. My other favorite is Mermaid Melody, but that hasn't been officially dubbed into English as far as I know but you could see if someone fansubbed it. My other favorite, while technically not a japanese anime, is Winx Club. It's an Italian cartoon about fairies. It's a magical girl show technically speaking and a really good show. It was dubbed from the original Italian into English by Rainbow and 4Kids. The Rainbow version, is a very good translation from the original and the 4Kids is the American dub. I myself prefer the Rainbow version but the 4Kids version is pretty good too (if you don't mind making everything cheesy). If you want the actual DVDs, you may have to settle for the 4Kids version. It isn't that bad and compared to Sailor Moon, it was left nearly intact. No episodes were cut, although some scenes were either altered with music to make it seem "nicer" or dialogue changed to make things easier to understand for us Americans or some other stupid reason they come up with. There are a few scenes that were cut but they are minor and not too terribly important to the plot. Also, some scenes were cut out of the original episode and put in another (likely so our American kiddies know what is going on) or scenes in an episode are switched out of order. I must say, the 4Kids dub handled it rather well compared to DiC and Cloverway in Sailor Moon. I still have complaints about the 4Kids version, but well, can't do much. All in all, go with 4Kids if you want the DVDs, or go with Rai English for the whole story (and if you can get those DVDs). Good Luck. -Power Girl

If willing to watch sub only online there is a good show called Fairy Tail, not a magical per se, but has kind of the elements mixed with it's actual genre of shonen, it has one particular character that actually has the magical transformations known in the magical girl genre, though she is one of the toughest in the show. Though fear not as it is one of the most likely to get a dub eventually, as it is one of the to be long running series like Bleach, though hopefully it wont be picked up by 4kids and masacred in an attempt to market to kids.

Wow, I thought this thread was dead. Unfortunately, my magical girl craving has temporally gone away, but I do thank you for your requests.

Oh and to Brad, I have heard of Fairy Tale, but I'm really not in the mood to check out another long anime (I'm currently watching Slayers), but thanks anyway. I might check it out later.

Well Negima! Magister Negi Magi (Negima! In the U.S.) is pretty good for a dub I guess (I hate dubs though) Funi does it.

Why don't you not watch dub anime on the internet? Thiers lot of dub anime on the internet more dub anime then sub ones. Not all anime dub has good voice acting in english i can name some tenchi muyo series, naruto,Saber Marionette J,pokemon, one piece, cased closed the ones i listed have the one of worst voice acting i have ever heard. Every english dub anime going to have a edited out scenes from the orginial japanese expect for funianimation dub they have uncut version. I watched lot of dub anime of course. Im a english speaking person i liked it better when it the anime have its orginial voices. Not every anime going to get dub you have to wait a whole year or if some dub company buys it.

Since this thread popped back up I might as well add that I have been watching the anime Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha and have been greatly enjoying it, I had to slow down my watching as I was likeing it so much. Any way it is quite action packed and it has been makeing me cheer for the characters, kind of strange as I did not expect myself to like a magical girl anime like this.
