The episode to which you're referring isn't actually "Masterpiece", it's "Broken Mirror" from season one, the unsub describes Reid as having "autistic leanings". There was another more recent episode in season 8 entitled "Through the Looking Glass" in which the new character Blake hints rather blatantly to Reid that he's probably autistic; it made me so happy to see that, even though I'm not typically a fan of new characters, that totally made me like her. I really hope that one day they'll just come out and identify Reid as an aspie, he's my favourite character on my favourite show, and his autism is so blatantly obvious that it drives me crazy to have his team acting like it's not there.

I totally agree with you. When I saw the thread I also wanted to mention the episode "Through the Looking Glass" but then read that you already have done it.

It has never been outright stated that Reid has AS, although it has been hinted at. It's also been a concern of his that he may be a paranoid schizophrenic, which could have been genetically passed on to him by his mother. He often connects with UnSubs on a more psychological level than the rest of the team, even saying "I know what it's like to be afraid of your own mind" in the espisode "Sex, Birth, Death."

Personally, I believe he's an Aspie. There's still a lot of symptoms we haven't seen, but he's probably learned to hide a lot of them due to his career. (i.e. eye contact doesn't seem to be a problem for him.) Besides that, the man's got an IQ of 187, has an eidetic memory, and can read 20,000 words a minute. AS or no AS, there's no denying he's on a different level than the other SSAs.

I also think that he has learned many thinks. His high IQ could help him with this because so he probably is able to learn more and to check and find out what he should do and what he shlouldn´t do.
