For a much less modern war film, The Eagle might be on interest. Taking place in 1st century Roman occupied Britain, a disabled Roman veteran with the aid of the enslaved son of a British tribal chief, search for the Roman battle standard - the eagle - captured by tribes north of Roman rule, who had also destroyed the legion commanded by his father. While the incident is fiction, and the premise is reminiscent of the Roman defeat in Germany's Teutoberg Forest, it's still an entertaining movie.

I like War films but I dont like war, so the film "Silent Night", (Link with spoilers) I found emotionally enjoyable as well.

Would the movie 300 count as a war movie?
