I thought the film was well done. A lot of people complain about the close ups. It pulls you into their emotions and keeps you there because there's nowhere to turn and nothing else to look at to distract you from it. as for Crowe's Javert, I think he did it the best he could, and I don't find him to be all that bad. I saw it twice in the theatre and I never do that. I just see a film once then wait for the DVD if I really liked what I saw. Jackman and Hathaway were great. Nice to see Colm Wilkinson in there as the bishop and I thought it was a nice touch to have him sing the final lines ("to love another person is to see the face of God") in Valjean's death scene with Hugh and Anne. it touched me emotionally, and I am a 37 year old guy saying this. The musical is coming to Toronto in the fall with Ramin Kamerloo as Valjean and I am hoping to see it.
