I couldn't get past the first episode of season one.
The show had potential, but the gratuitous sex on screen made it a step above being called pornography. Not something I'd want to watch with the family.
Honestly, I think I counted 5 humping scenes in one hour...most of which didn't need to be so graphic to convey what was going on.
In the first episode, the Jaime/ Cersei scene was necessary because it's really the plot catalyst, and it's also necessary to establish that Tyrion
likes whores. He was married, but his family destroyed that marriage because his wife was lowborn, so, at this point in the story, whores are his only option.
To be honest, there are sex scenes throughout the whole series, and most of them with dubious plot legitimacy. This will never be a show to watch with your family, but, it is some of the best storytelling and characterisation that you will ever see.
Still, if you can't bring yourself to watch it, but you would like something similar, you might like Robert Graves, "I Claudius". It was a huge influence on ASOIAF, and all of the violence and sex is suggested.
I think Dinglage modelled his performance of Tyrion on Jacobi's, Claudius.
