I think the lesbian scene in Mulholland Drive is intense but it projects love rather than sex. It is only one scene, the rest of the movie is not about that.
I will look out for his other films but if they are more disturbing I don't know if I should watch them.
Physically, Laura Palmer's killer was her father - but it was the Bob entity from the woods that was acting through him at the time.

Near the end Twin Peaks was a mess of supernatural nonsense. The first season was great though.
