How many of you watch movies just to criticise them?

I would call it low expectations more than having an open mind, but I see what you mean. ;)

I don't. I prefer to watch Mystery Science Theater 3000 if I want to see movies ripped apart.

@op never, but against this I do check the critiques of those I trust. Which means that I rarely see more than a couple of movies a year

My personal philosophy is 'expect too much, and you're bound to be disappointed; expect too little and you're pleasantly surprised.'

The latter happened with me and Avengers Assemble (I'm not a Joss Whedon fan) so it works for me. But then again, I'm pretty picky with my movies anyway.

I can't help but to criticise the movies where they go in to rescue one person and kill 20 of their own in the process.

Did you like any Michael Bay movies?

Armageddon and Transformers 1 are the only Michael Bay movies I've seen that I like, everything else is just meh. I go in there expecting action, explosions, badly-time jokes and a huge plot hole here or there, and am not disappointed. Give Bay some credit, he knows exactly what he's good at.

Then again, this is the same guy making Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles a live action movie with Megan Fox in it.

Not me. I'll see reviews of a film and take them with a pinch of salt. I make my own mind up of a Film I see after going in with no expectations and an open mind.

Gravity for instance, I heard it was good (even though I watched the trailer with awe before reading reviews), went in open minded and came out amazed. Even if it was critically hated, I'd still like it for what it was.

The kind that I was talking about probably watch every movie released. At least it seems like they watch an awful lot of movies.

I've been considering making a blog where I review movies I've seen, seeing as how various websites and YouTube accounts have inspired me to judge damn near everything when I go see movies now.

Yeah but there's two ways of doing that. You can either create a review blog, or you can stop reading those websites and youtube accounts. It all depends on whether you like judging movies or not.
