TV for aspies?

I like TV shows I can personally relate to. And as for cartoons, they must be realistic (or at least semi-realistic), such as As Told By Ginger, BraceFace, Charlie and Lola, and many others. For TV shows, I mainly watch Disney Channel. Heck, I watch (and enjoy) everything on that channel! I also like Nickelodeon, Nicktoons Network, Toon Disney, MTV, VH1, PBS Kids, ABC Family, ABC, and FOX.

TLC and the Court TV channel also have some good medical topic shows. Untold Stories of the ER, Trauma: Life in the ER, Forensic Files, Medical Detectives, etc. I like medical topics too.

History Channel, Discovery Channel, Spike TV when they show Star Trek and CSI.

I'm surprised no one mentioned liking Monk. That's my favorite hands down. Next is Desperate Housewives, since it seems like a great show to observe "normal" neurotypical people in action to the extreem. Less remembered to watch, for me, is House. I just love the way House is so direct with people. That type of directness takes away guessing for an Aspie in regards to the usual hidden social politics of the "normal" world.

SteveK, personally I think the reason psychiatrists ignore hints and would never ask is because of a mixture of pride and the fear that just maybe there might be quite a lot of Aspies out in the world with greater intelligence than they could deal with.

What would be more entertaining (but would never happen) is to have a show depicting how Aspies view NT people as aliens. We would base our presentation of them upon the foundation they created for us...flip-flopping everything and having "professional help" (all AS people of course) for all the NT's weird behavior. After all, who uses more logic than us?!

For example, we would hire them to be our underpaid executive function personel to execute our brilliant ideas which we've created. Of course, this would be done in a humorous fashion (like Borat's style) with the intent of maybe getting something through their dense skulls.

Speaking of fashion, why was that bothered to be clumped in with Television and Entertainment? Apparently no one in this forum cares (rightly so) to even give such a foolishly vain thing as fashion any thought.

I am a mathematician. I also liked the idea. I watched the first episode, and was vaguely annoyed. I watched the second, and got just a bit furious! A bunch of pseudo-mathematics... grab a textbook, copy out a couple of equation, solve the case. Duh? I can't recall which of the two episodes it was, but the "mathematician" predicted /exactly/ where/when/who/how the next serial murder would be, based of the prior five, with a plot twist that I refuse to bore you with.

"Life on Mars" (from the Bowie track) was pretty good, even though I think it lost its way a bit. There's a new series due, I believe. Rats! I've just looked it up. the /second/ episode is on tonight (BBC).

"House" - I think I'll like it, when/if I get to see it.

I'm watching a .lot of "[Adult Swim]" - some good, some not-so-good.

All previously mentioned SF, I like, but not to any huge degree, in some cases.

Did anyone mention "Bones"?

"Quatermass I, II, & the Pit" (not so much the very much later fourth series, recently re-shown - a vague rip-off of C.S.Lewis' "That Hideous Strength", I always thought).
"Dune", "Children of Dune" - the fairly recent made-for-TV stuff. Got the scale right!

PS. "Firefly" I must go back to. I watched a bit when it first came out, but didn't get into it. Maybe I'll like it better now. "Serenity" was excellent.

I think I mentioned this in another thread but the UK show "The IT Crowd" has the aspiest character on TV, "Moss".

I saw a fast food commercial only once and wish I paid more attention to what it was for. It was hysterical (to me anyhow)! Maybe someone could tell me if they saw it too and what it was for?

Here's the scenario:

Two guys were in the fast food restaurant carrying trays to sit down. They were having an "Aspie" sort of conversation rather than the typical socially correct one. It was kind of like listening to two "Dr. House" characters having a small talk dialog of nothing but speaking exactly what was on their minds.
