That's not what I've gathered. They've completely changed Sansa's story, for one thing..

That's what changing and condensing means. :P

Often, in movie and TV adaptations, storylines will be condensed/simplified and characters will be combined.

This is exactly what's happen with Sansa. If you've read that far in the books, then you should know that what is happening with Sansa happened (more or less) with another character.

At this point, there's something like 1000+ named characters in the books. Obviously, that's not practical for a TV series... So, the producers have eliminated tons of characters and given significant plots to different characters.

Brienne's story is totally different, as is Jamie's.

As someone who has read all the books and seen all the episodes of the show, I can tell you, the first 3 seasons (plus part of the 4th) follow the first three books very closely. But, after that, things start to change...

Whether or not that's a good thing is a matter of opinion.

Out of the frypan and into the fire is a bit of an understatement. If she's going to cop nothing but abuse and brutality until the credits roll on the final ever episode it seems a bit pointless writing her that way. Turning a naive teen girl into a beaten, raped and broken one isn't my idea of enjoyable character development, but that's GoT for you.

I think that could very well be the point though...I mean think about history, I imagine a lot of women found themselves in similar situations, sure its not desirable and its not pleasant but none the less many women have and do have to deal with that sort of abuse....so this show/book series depicts it as such. I mean I don't know the author but he probably has some kind of reason he writes things the way he does...I find it refreshing how gritty and real it is. I mean say someone writes a novel about the slavery days....and how horrid the slaves where treated they can't just leave out the horridness and make an accurate portrayal of the real brutality those people faced. I mean there are naive teen girls who end up in such situations....why shouldn't that have representation in a t.v series?

You mean what happens in the books is entirely different?

Yus. Alayne Stone stays in the Vale in the books. It's her "sister" who marries The Bastard of Bolton.

I just watched a retro game parody of King of Thrones by Dr. Stuart Ashens. The game was basically 1: Fight in a country. 2: Win but have a lot of your men killed 3: Get betrayed by someone (or something, like your own sword). 4: Move on to another country and repeat.

I've never watched the show, nor do I plan to. But I think Ashen's interpretation of it is pretty accurate.

BIG SPOILERS FROM LAST NIGHT!! !

Having read the books, I suspected that Jon Snow would die, but I am still sad about it. I liked him and Ygritte. I guess we'll never know who his mother was now.

And Stannis Baratheon! WOW! 8O 8O I didn't see that coming! Stannis dead?!?! This changes a lot of things. I guess that means Dany wins. Unless someone unseen comes along. . .

Meh... I don't think Jon will stay dead for long. That's why Melisandre came back to the wall after totally screwing up with Stannis... She needs a new messiah.

On the up side, his death does release Jon from his vows to the night's watch.

The last episode was pretty intense. I enjoyed this season of game of thrones, but I have to say I liked last season more.

I'm looking forward to next season's 'Ramsay finds out' scene, that should be entertaining. I still find him less hatable than Joffrey though, that guy could eat a ham sandwich and make you want to punch him for it.

I really hope I don't have to start watching it due to it coming out before The Winds of Winter...

Also, they burned the wrong Baratheon. They were supposed to *wake* the stone dragon, not *burn* the stone dragon. They could have won, perhaps, had they burned the correct one. Instead they had to draw the attention of the gods with a human sacrifice, who intervened to ensure the correct outcome of the battle. It just wasn't R'holler, but instead the Old Gods, who took notice, and they have a very dim view of kinslaying.

Well I've finally watched all of season 5, that's just f***d what happened to Jon Snow and where was his dire wolf? I figured at some point Theion/reek would try to help Sansa, though that all depends on if they survived that crazy jump or not I suppose whether it helped or not. And what the hell happened with Arya, that was some trippy/crazy sh*t. Anyways lots of stuff to find out/see next season.
