How come "white savior" movies are getting a bad rep lately?

I don't think it's fair to call Atticus a "white savior", he was just a guy trying to do the right thing (unsuccessfully I might add) who happened to be white.

And I can't stand white savior movies either because it's racist politically correct BS. It implies that non-white people are incable of helping themselves without the help of a white person.

There's a HUGE difference between not being racist and wanting another race to look up to you as their "white savior" because you want to prove you're not racist while at the same time looking down on people of color with condenscending compassion.

If you like Atticus don't read anything about the sequel. I love stories about humans being the real monsters. They are much worse than the monsters that appear in fiction.

Yeah I heard about the sequel. I want to pretend it never happened. Even Harper Lee didn't want it released.

And yeah humans can be monsters, but there's still decent people in this world capable of doing the right thing.

I've met some myself and I would have ended up dead without them.

Yeah i'm one of those decent people, that's why I like reading about the damaged people. The one thing I hate to hear about or read about is bullying. I can't imagine what the victim is going through and what lead to the bully becoming a bully. Much of bullying is taught and home and that just royally pisses me off.
