I don't think we should bring back casual abuse...unless we're talking about (responsible) portrayals of BDSM. The film of Fifty Shades of Grey was far too tame.

If nobody's watched 'Mad Men', that's a really worthwhile binge which addresses these topics, the real-world implications of the sexism and misogyny which dominated 1960s society.

Yeah I think the op would like to go back to those days.

Apparently, we're the ones being prudish because we don't understand that not using blackmail and coercion to get sex "really takes the fun and passion out of it really".

True. Now fantasy wise you can be involved in those scenes but that's not what takes place in movies. Movies show what happens in real life and rape and blackmail aren't ways to endear yourself to someone.

Well it's just that in these older movies, the woman is actually turned on by the power seduction, and she sticks with the guy afterwards and likes him so if the woman responds positively and is turned on by the sexual aggression, than is it really that bad?

My gf brought this up in conversation and she said likes men in older movies who are more sexually aggressive so isn't my gf a case in point therefore?

I like watching men act aggressive towards other men on TV. I bet nobody thinks anything of that because it isn't intended to be sexualized.

So go out and find an older creep who will sexually harass your girlfriend while you watch from the shadows. Just because she likes that doesn't mean she would actually like being a woman in older movies. You're opinion is very sick.

Oh sorry, I didn't mean to come off that way, it's just that Thunderball was a popular movie and no one seems Bond as a sicko or anything, so I thought maybe it was okay to have that, and maybe people nowadays are overreacting if they can appreciate it in an old Bond movie.

There are a lot of people who have a problem with bond, nowadays bond would immediately be sent to jail.

Bond is a dinosaur. Time to come up with something new.

Have Idris Elba play Bond and he would swoon his way to victory.

But the women in Bond are always turned on by it, so would they send him to jail if they have no complaints and want to be with him though? They react positively to it, so why is it so bad, if they react positively to it?

They're not real people.

Your girl friend opinion is in the minority.

We've already explained why it's bad. That's not how to treat women. We want to be loved and respected not treated like property and be forced to do things .

Idris Elba would be a good choice... but I'd still say ditch Bond and come up with a whole new idea for Mr Elba.

why can't more people just evolve past enjoying all this mayhem in the first place? isn't about time we as a race have moved onto more enlightened things?

Don't get me wrong though, women like confidence. They don't want someone who never takes the initiative or never takes and interest in them.

But there's a balance. Be confident in asking or making a move, but be nice about it. Don't just barge in like it's your right. Have some manners.

I'm sure there's some good on screen examples of this, but I can't think of any right now.
