Depends on the person & how they take the distinction between media and reality.

I really struggled with kids' media growing up cos I struggled understanding the difference. So anything with a baddy in it was off limits when I was under about 6. Especially a panto or something on the stage where technically the baddy could leave the stage and attack the audience (they wouldn't cos it was an actor but I didn't understand that).

Nowadays though, although I have a good imagination still, I understand the difference.

I'm his age and really like spooky stuff. Like demons and ghosts and witches etc. Stuff about magic that's meant for adults.

I don't like anything that's possible irl though. I don't get the pleasure of watching a serial killer murder people. Or a car crash etc. Maybe to soap opera level but not so much it'd be rated a 15 or an 18.

Instead of thinking of him as autistic, think of him as your brother. Does he understand the difference between fact and fiction? If he has a strong grasp of that then it's fine. If not, then you're recommending something that might scare him. Does he know what not to say in public? If so, watching sexy stuff is fine, if not then it might become inappropriate later...

Some parents know best but others can be overprotective etc. There's certain things I don't watch around my parents, but then the same would apply if I was NT.

My dad's schizophrenic and possibly autistic and the closest he watches to anything scary is Disney movies, which he loves.
