Wouldn't it only be 'cancel culture' if it was motivated by some sort of social issue? I'm not sure 'because it sucks' counts.

Cancel culture seems to mostly be a meme the right uses to stifle dissent. How dare people not want anything to do people they consider terrible people who support terrible things. That's communism.
