I'm confused as to what has happened to richi D.

Did he just decide to stop doing stargate sg1?

he was the life of the show, IMHO.

RDA does pop up everynow and then. In the storyline Jack is the military boss of all Stargate operations (one would assume he has again replaced Hammond). So he's the new General's direct superior... I think

Yeh. Does anyone no what position Hammonds got now thogh?

EDIT: Jacks not just the head of all STARGATE operations, hes the head of all interstellar defence operations, incuding the SGC (and i think, the Alpha Site and Atlantis), the Atlantus defensive outpost, and the defence fleet (allthogh so far, as far as i no, that just consists of the Promethius and Dedalus)

I think Hammond has retired.

The only ships in Earth's command would be the Prometheus, the awesomeness that is Daedalus, numerous 303 fighters, and Atlantis' compliment of Puddle Jumpers.

Oh, and Atlantis itself, considering it can fly.

I'm annoyed at how they pronounce Daedalus... It's 'Day Da Lus' not 'Dead a lus'... Canadian fools
(SG1/A is produced in Canada with a mostly Canadian cast)

For the Aussies on here, you can get Stargate DVDs from Ebay that were bought in England. They sell for about AU$40 typically, so it's expensive, but I've been more than a season ahead of TV doing it this way. I have all of season 8 and Atlantis season 1.

They will work in your DVD player too, because they are region coded 2 and 4, UK and Australia respectively. Only question is, can you afford it?

$40 is pretty cheap for a Season Boxset... Considering the Star Trek ones sell for $189 each... GRRRR
But I found a good deal on DVCCrave.com.au

That's not a boxset... that's a single 4-episode DVD. And it's also before postage, so add another $5 or so to actually get it. In stores it's normally $30-40 and some of the older ones are as cheap as $15-20.

Downloading = low quality... I want the big fullscreen pictures.

I actually built my own DVD player off scripting software that uses high quality resizers and sharpeners because I wanted the best picture possible. But I did that for movies, not stargate... Stargate is for TV. Movies get the Hollywood treatment... 8)

No, it depends where and what you download. I always get high quality files. 300-400mb each.

BUT!! !!... GalileoAce... it will never match DVD quality. That's what I want... Internet rips will never match DVD unless you manage to get an HDTV rip, which would be prohibitively large for me to download.

Being the quality freak that I am, DVD is THE only way for me to go.

Some (many) that I've downloaded are as good or better quality than some DVDs I've seen.

Really? Any chance you could put a small sample clip online for me to assess? :)

I could, but it'd take time...and I don't want to be proven wrong :P lol

Plus the episodes I speak of are Enterprise ones, which I've since put on disc so they didn't take up space on my harddrive.

I agree with GA. I can only get the eps off the net, they are always hi-def thanks to scifi in America. They weight in at about 350mb and look almost DVD on a computer monitor, so they would look perfect on a tv.
