I used to watch House during the first season, then I got bored with it. Every episode was exactly the same. Someone would get sick with some unusual/rare condition and be brought to the hospital while House was having a fight/disagreement with his colleagues/superiors. They'd put their disagreement on hold to diagnose the patient which is always wrong at first. After the initial diagnosis, the patient's condition would decline and they would realize they missed/overlooked something or a new piece of evidence would be found which would require House to break some sort of rule to get the cure/antidote/medicine/etc to the patient before they died.

Hugh Laurie is brilliant as House. His brute yet rational way of dealing with people is what attracts. He's not more narcissistic than other, he just doesn't care for social credit. He says what he wants, does what he wants. The rudeness is just a great technique to open the patient's/colleague's eyes, when called for. He's quite harmless accually, cracking a few eggs in order to make the omelet..

I've really stopped paying attention to the plots, and (I never thought I'd say this about anything) just pay attention to the character interactions. Half the time the plots make no sense, but it's still damn funny.

My favourite part is the snarky comments.

I've watched an episode or two here and there because I loved Hugh Laurie on Black Adder and it's nice that he injects his brand of kooky humor into a medical dram show. And he actually pulls off a decent American accent, too.

Haha same. I love Doc House and his relationship with Wilson.

It's also a nice change from the soap opera doctors-in-love-with-each-other kinda theme that seems to be taking over. (not saying that doesnt happen in House, but the show doesnt revolve around that)

House is the only show I've seen that comes close to telling how real medicine is practiced... By picking the most likely cause and treating it, with often excruciating results for the patient. In my experience, doctors don't want to look for the real cause. They just want to give you the fastest and most likely answer. I've spent long hours paying for their haste in the past, fortunately with something not remotely fatal, unless you count the weeks of life-crushing anxiety attacks from wondering if I would ever be able to get up and walk comfortably, dotted with the occasional urge to commit suicide to make the itching stop. To them it's just a fungal infection, and you're too embarrassed to make an issue of it.

I do enjoy House for his smart mouth. It's one of those things you know is not acceptable in real life and that just makes it all the more satisfying to see someone get away with it on tv. If I talk even remotely like that, I swear all the people around me turn into something from a reality tv show. "You really hurt his feelings, you need to say you're sorry. That was so un-called-for! All he did was tell you to smile cause you like, never smile, and you offended him and all!"

(College, incidentally. I'm heading in to lunch, minding my own business, when "Laird" (his real name, I just put it into quotes because I still can't believe it) looks up and says, "Smile!" and I said, "Don't tell me what to do." I get to hear from Tina later about how I offended him. I never apologized seeing as how I never liked the little jerk, and I didn't like Tina telling me what to do either, and because of a question I had... APOLOGIZE FOR WHAT? He told ME to smile, never a please, mind you. He just couldn't appreciate dry wit. Probably laughs his can off at "House" now.)

Mind you, if I met someone like House in person, I'd would hate him SO much.

Any House fans ever watch "Waiting for God"? That's another fine example of bloody-mindedness. I pointed the show out to my mom who lives in an elderly community project thing. She likes it, which tells me something right there.

I love House MD...I even asked ToyFare what the likelihood was of him getting an action figure.

Sadly, Jack Bauer got one before House will ever...

So not fair...I could see so many possibilities...and I'd even buy a whole diorama featuring Cuddy, Cameron, Chase, Foreman, and Wilson too!
