"I Am Legend" - How to rape a good book.
I watched the film with my wife. She had read the book previously, but I have not had the opportunity to do so yet. The film was fine for what it was. It was 'ruined' because the book plot as you describe doesn't market well for enough demographic subsets. The addition of a hopeful ending and a big-name actor made the movie more of a draw to a wider audience. The New York setting, visually distinct vampires, and the transition of the primary character into a virologist are all part of the conversion to a movie format, because they streamline the movie's story and are more visually appealing, something that is not necessary in a novel. Or so I'd guess.
Ugh. I 100% agree.
The ENTIRE POINT of the book was raped from it!
Why did they even use the same name?
