ummm... If you're referring to what I think you are referring to, the problem isn't that each series has its own concept of parsec. The problem is that parsec is a real unit of measurement, which was not used intelligibly in Star Wars.
I think people try to read too much into things.
SW is a long long time ago....
(so, lets assume that if a long time ago is 10 years, then long long is 20 right... )
so 1977-20 = 1957 (of course we can assume long long time is more than 20 years really).
but....
Episodes 1-3 (dunno if they mention parsecs - I don't think they do but if they did, it would be 1957-50 = 1907.
Possible... anyway, maybe they mention it in KOTOR? which would date it at 907. (earth time).
The first star measurements were taken by Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel in 1838 and the word parsec was first used in in an astronomical publication in 1913.
So, it must have been us that got it wrong.... since the Star Wars usage most certainly predates us.
aw.... I know this is crap....
Thing is, I always expected that SW was using it in a different context. ie: that Parsec in SW was an abbreviation for something other than "parallax of one second of arc".
Same as I assumed that the "duck talk" was about space ducks, not normal ducks. I forgot where that happens in SW now. Maybe excised footage from ANH.
