I Believe This Is True For Some Shows, But Not For Others. I Once Heard That Bear Grylls Used To Stay In Hotels And The Like. I Cant Remember Which Show, But I Heard A Rumor There Was A Thai Resturant Down The Road.

I agree; some shows, like "Nanny 911" or "Supernanny" aren't scripted, but other reality shows are scripted.

I heard "Rock of Love" was scripted, that Bret Michaels is actually in a longterm relationship and has been all along. Good for him.

I believe alot of them are staged, not what would happen spontaneously. The Beatles film "Magical Mystery Tour" was supposed to be about a bus tour and they'd film whatever happened, however, nothing interesting did.

I also believe alot of them use creative editing, putting stuff that happened at different times together and make it seem like one event. Things aren't as they seem.

Anyone remember that movie, "Quiz Show"? I think it came out in the early 90's. It was about how people figured out that the old games shows were actually rigged.

"Reality shows" are just a type of game show that happens to be popular right now. Nothing new or shocking . . . except that some do appear to put people in potentially dangerous situations (no doubt less dangerous than they are designed to seem to viewers). One accidental death or serious injury could burst that bubble.

My sister up in Seattle, she had a gay friend that tried to get into a season of Survivor, but they rejected him because he wasn't "flaming" or "girly" enough. Damn him for having actual survival skills and being manly.

And off on a segue, I was surprised a few weeks ago when I was watching Intervention, the producer of the show actually stepped in and told an alcoholic that she couldn't drive, as drunk as she was. I think that's the first time I've ever seen a producer of a reality show do something responsible.

Now I realize with gay guys there is a sliding scale of effeminacy, but if someone likes to putt from the rough I can usually tell. I have good gaydar.

The situations on Intervention are real, btw. It's all real.

One time, when I was young, I actually rang a commercial radio station and won a prize but the guy was loathe to give it to me, it was a small amount of cash and I was unemployed then, so (they screen you off air) he wasn't happy with my voice tone (could you sound more excited?) nor what I was going to do with the 'prize' (pay some bills).

Later, I did volunteer work at a university radio station when I was about 20 and when they have giveaways/prizes and because no-one actually rings up, they get a staff member to pretend they've rung in and won a prize.

There's a reality show called Airplane Repo that is completely made-up. I hope that nobody actually believes that there is anything real about it.
