The cast of MST3K? Which cast? Not Joel, surely.

And what law of physics or country prevents it?

There was a con planned in Memphis, it was Anime Addicts Con, but it got canceled on account of the hotel bailing on the convention and the sudden disappearance of the con's president. The closest thing to Memphis is Middle Tennessee Anime Convention (MTAC) which is held in Nashville. My friend's half-brother used to be part of the registration staff there, but unfortunately its too far for me when my parent's still wont let me travel alone.

It's a real shame, too, because I have an awesome Bleach Soul Reaper Captain cosplay that cost absolutely nothing (well, except for the zanpakou which was $1.09 at the Dollar General). You can see it on my DeviantArt here.

BTW, Does anyone know of any cons within a 100 mile radius of Laramie, Wyoming?

Just his general disappearance from all things MST when he left. No need to get snarky. It was an honest question.

I just moved to MD. Maybe we'll end up meeting each other at one of these cons (Katsucon '09 is too close. I don't have time to get ready.)

I wonder what NYC is like. I think NYAF (New York Anime Festival) may be the closest (decent) convention actually coming up in New York state (If Toracon lasted for more than a day - which I do understand, as it's on a college campus - I might go there instead, but...).

But cosplay - I know THAT will be hard...

I am going to go to the Melbourne Anime Festival (Manifest) in august.
I am thinking about going to Animania (which will be held at the Rydges hotel in melbourne next month.

I am going to supernova in melbourne this weekend. it is not an anime con but it has anime there.

i have had fun going to the cons, but Animania is squishy because it is held in a hotel's conference area, and lots of people go.

Manifest is melbournes oldest anime con. it will be held at the Melbourne Showgrounds for the first time this year. (used to be held at Melbourne University)

If you hate 4chan, why you have a Epic Fail Guy avatar?

Supernova was fun.

I like checking out peoples costumes and watching anime and shopping for anime things and manga. and playing video games too.

there was a cosplay contest (for anime and manga characters only) called the National Cosplay Championship(this was the first preliminary round), and the national winners prize is a trip for 2 to Japan to attend the Tokyo Anime Fair. way cool prize. that was fun to watch.

there was another cosplay contest (for all characters not just anime and manga ones) after that. This one is put on by Supernova every year. that was cool as well. (the prize for this was vouchers and stuff.)

Animania hosts the World Cosplay Summit australia rounds. meaning that contests are held in each city that the festival goes to and the winner of the national contest (or winning group) gets to represent Australia at the World Cosplay Summit.

anyone here enter cosplay contests? i have never entered one.

Never entered an actual cosplay contest, although I did wear my Bleach shiningami cosplay to Character Day at school. I even got into a cosplay fight with a girl dressed as a ninja turtle, and someone taped it. It looked pretty epic, but unfortunately the girl never posted it on the net like she promised.
