cool, finally a Dexter thread. I'm pretty new here so if there was one before I probably missed it. I had become obsessed with Dexter. They film the show pretty close to where I live. (not like I would stalk the location or anything) They do most of the filming in Long Beach CA. Some of the places they filmed I can even identify because I grew up right by the docks. It's supposed to look like Miami but of course it's not. http://www.seeing-stars.com/Dexter/index.shtml

I started making Dexter jewelry and occasionally selling it. I got that way with the X Files years ago too. Now they are making us wait until something like October until the next season.

Anyway, I'm adjusting my obsessions back to "Lost" and several other shows at the moment in order to avoid some major withdrawal symptoms. Frankly, it's not all that healthy as I have "real" work to do. The distraction is temporary

I was gonna ask what you're thinking of Lost at the moment, but you might be further head than me :(

Yeah, I'm all up to date with Lost. I I realize that when I talk about Lost I must sound like a total fool. The show is OUTRAGEOUS. It's funny, with shows like that, and with Dexter, I require total silence while I'm watching them. I get all weird about distractions. What I can tell you is that I actually like this season. Maybe it's because they made us wait for so long for it :?

Lol, I know, its crazy, I can't help but watch it though! Are you in the US? I'm like that too, I need to concentrate, and I watch those 2 shows on my own.

I know this is more about the show than the books, but I heard the Author just released the 4th book, I wish I could read it and see if he goes back to the storyline from the first two and forgets about the crazy cults and ancient shadow creatures from the third book.

I need total silence too, but I see it with a friend. We don't talk during the show, but after we talk about the episode for hours, usually we both agree with killing every one in Dexter's way. He is way more moral then us!

Lol. I wish I did have someone to watch it with. But I can enjoy shows just the same on my own. 24 is one of them too.

I am in the US. My husband likes to watch shows and eat food at the same time. When my "obsession" shows come on I kick him out of the room or I just decide to record them and watch them at a later time. He thinks I'm out of my mind, he is halfway right. I have no tolerance for dinner theatre! At least when it comes to MY SHOWS. If we are watching shows that I don't really care about, then I am OK with eating.

If you are in the UK though, your programing might have a delay in air time. I might be wrong. I have a very difficult time watching my favorite UK shows, even online. One of my favorites is one called QI. I try to watch and I get weird error messages that say that I must be in Europe to see the show. I can't get anything but BBC-America here and it's not all that great overall. Americans have great television but the UK has produced amazing TV as well but we just never get exposed to it. It's sad really.

Yeah, don't worry, I can be like that too! I think its worth watching it in your own time if you know its gonna be a tense episode.

Try "tv links" might be able to watch some of the shows on there. Is there any particular shows or episodes, I could try and find the link.

you can try that link.

It works here but some of the links that work in the US don't always work in the UK. Just look for Dexter, or any other show that you may want to watch. 8) The Megavideo links are good but they can interrupt you after you watch them for too long. Hope this helps.

I think there's a distinct irony about Dexter (the career sociopath) actually being one of the most stable characters in the entire show. I mean, Lila was a manipulative, emotionally-unhinged whack-job, Dexter's sister Deb is always looking for love in all the wrong places, and Sergeant Doakes was just an obsessive, violent nut.

Whereas Dexter is actually a pretty normal guy with one flaw - which just so happens to be that he kills people. But what's a little bloodshed between friends? :)
